WAITING/NOT WAITING
JUNE 2021
Why are we waiting? Why are we waiting? Why are we waiting – for Godot, it feels sometimes?
Yet things are on the move.
For the time being you are living both experiences. You are waiting, and you feel the frustration of waiting. And yet there is a subtext; a parallel line on which things are inexorably moving – on a new track; a new rail line, running parallel with the line ‘why am I still waiting’?
We suggest you aware now, that these two lines are running alongside one another. Before the rails divide and you can step off the line of ‘why are we waiting? Before you can set yourself on the new line; this new rail of discovery, knowing you are on the move again, separated at last from the human condition of waiting.
Because, in our view, humanity has always been waiting. Waiting for it to be ‘now’. Waiting for it to be different. Waiting for it to change. Waiting for it to be ‘something other’.
And yet, this line, this rail line of waiting, is about to veer away. To allow us to sit comfortably in the vehicle of who we are; in our own persona. To experience ourselves existing inexorably within a different beat, a different tune, a different timing. On this new line, humanity no longer feels it is waiting; waiting for God; waiting for life to begin; waiting for life to be different; waiting for Godot.
Humanity can now feel itself moving. Not waiting for a future that is never coming. It is a comfortable feeling; a peaceful feeling. You can relax, because life itself has taken a new turn. You are calm because you are no longer waiting.
It is waiting that causes frustration and anxiety, because you are waiting for something that never seems to arrive. Now, however, you travel in time with your own timing. Not on the line of frustration when your ‘wish list’ doesn’t happen, when life gets more tense – as it has of late with Covid. Covid had created waiting writ large.
But soon, when this aspect of humanity sheers away and you are on your own line, you can sit back and breathe, and you find that your breath feels different. It is your breath, not the held breath of humanity waiting – for Godot.
We suggest that while you wait to stop waiting, you feel a sense of relief and release. The relief and release that you are beginning to feel as lockdown eases. Experience that modicum of freedom, even though you are still on the line of waiting. Know that your parallel line is moving inexorably forward, in your own rhythm and your own timing. Sit back. Allow yourself the privilege of not waiting.
So, while the two lines continue to run parallel, opt for your line: the line of movement and difference, peace and harmony.
Know that you are no longer waiting for somebody else to be different; that you are no longer waiting for them to do something they are never going to do. Know you are no longer waiting to have ‘this or that’, because you know you no longer want it. Feel there is just an inexorable movement to who you are, and who you are to become.
You are almost there.
