STARTING FROM HERE

May we suggest that today you allow yourself the privilege of being a wonderful human being. That we all begin by feeling ourselves to be wonderful human beings.
This does not need a mental construct. It is simply and suddenly relaxing into being a wonderful human being.
Discover that this relaxes every muscle in your being; that every muscle in your body relaxes as soon as you feel yourself to be a wonderful human being.
It is time to end the litany of reasoning that you are flawed, or should do better, or haven’t quite done what your standard suggests you ought to have done.
Because every time there is a blip of thinking about not being up to scratch, your body responds to that: it suddenly tightens something in your body. It might be your neck or your chin or your kidneys. Something will tighten, and as that tightens, it exaggerates the view that something is wrong with you, or about you.
So today, just today perhaps, you think of yourself as a wonderful human being, without those ‘yes buts’ that come in so often, almost incessantly. And here you are today, a wonderful human being. Because human beings are wonderful now.
It is time to release the old relationship to life; that old sense of having to become a good person, or a brilliant person, which immediately sets up the ‘yes but’ within you, which then makes the body feels strange, or limited in some way.
The history of humanity has been to experience a vast curve of learning towards knowing that man really is wonderful. Of course, there are many people you will see today who are not wonderful – both to themselves and to others. But they too are within this history of learning to be wonderful human beings, without all the ‘yes buts’, that accompany what it is to be human
But today is a new moment. Why not trust that you are a wonderful human being and feel your whole body relaxing, so you don’t keep tightening the body, and feeling wrong, with the ‘yes but’ refrain that goes on and on and on. For when the body itself becomes wracked with the guilt or the shame or the ‘yes buts’, your sense of being a wonderful human being is kept more and more at bay.
Why not, today, allow yourself to relax completely; to act as if you are a wonderful human being. Smile within. Smile within yourself and find a love of self.
This really is the very best medicine for you, and for those around you. When you present a picture of someone who loves themselves, this allows other people to become more aware of their own ‘yes buts’, and guilt or shame. But then comes the recognition that they, too, can begin to love themselves. They can release all the negativity out of their bodies, to become wonderful humans too.
