A SILENT MONTH
AUGUST 2020
We urge our readers to stop worrying – again, and again, and again – because anxiety will not allow you to become Silent inside. Silence inside demands that you stop worrying, because the head will worry, worry, worry, and then the body will respond with worry, worry, worry. So that a hip will feel painful, or a toe will feel out of sorts. And your head will whizz, whizz, whizz. And the last thing you are able to do when you are worrying is be Silent.
So, we set you a task for August. To make a decision to allow yourselves the privilege of not worrying, knowing that this is a very tough order, particularly at the present time when there is so much anxiety in the air. So how do you do that? How do you stop worrying when the air around you is in a state of anxiety – as it has been for many, many weeks, and months, and years, and eons of time?
Anxiety is the fuel of the mind, the fuel of the head. Anxiety keeps the head on alert. It makes the head go round and round. It’s a head trip. It is something that now needs to quieten. And, if we may say so, to stop, right now, in order for you to listen to the silence of who you are and what you really feel. To hear what you can release now, the part of you that is no longer necessary for you to worry about; to think about; to whizz about.
It’s done. It is over, and even if you do have something to worry about in your life right now, try not worrying about it. Try allowing the worry to be let go. You might put your worry on a piece of paper and ‘blow it away’. Or see yourself on the ‘worry seat’ and allow yourself literally to stand up and sit somewhere else; the ‘not worrying seat’.
And then, when you realise how much your head has been spinning and worrying in the deep past of humanity’s anxieties, you see the Silent Seat. And you decide very consciously that you want to go and sit on that. You have worried enough. You have been on the ‘worry seat’ for far too long.
And here you are on the Silent Seat. And you begin to feel, all around you, a real sense of silence. Right round you. To the side of you. To the other side of you. To the sky of you and to the earth of you. And you are your own silent self. It is such a relief. Such a relief.
We suggest that the month of August is a month of quietness, of silence, in any way you can feel that; and at any time you can allow yourself to be that. And if you do have a little worry, sit on the ‘worry seat’ and see it disappearing.
Because you can actually live your life – even with things that always make you anxious – without feeling anxious. You can live a life of tranquillity. Even if you are in a life where you imagine you have reason to have lots of anxieties, you can decide to let them go. You can decide to live your life, despite the anxieties, as a quiet, tranquil and charming life, free from anxiety.
Why not try. August could be the quiet month. And then, as you live the reality of a quieter life, you may move and have your being from a different place; in a different world view. In a different sense of you.
And it’s rather nice, isn’t it?
Apologies. For technical reasons no meditation this month. It went silent!
